The new standard for function charts

A quick and trouble-free setup and commissioning of plants is very important for their owners to allow flexible and cost-effective action in the market. Hardly less important is error detection or the reconstruction of a plant. All this requires a good plant documentation.

GRAFCET reaches beyond the function chart

GRAFCET offers the following advantages:

  Operation modes manual/automatic

Why a new standard?

Standards are only revised on necessity. Which reasons could make a revision necessary?

• False, confusing or inconsistent passages
• Not yet implemented technologies/requirements
• Extension to an international range of validity

These reasons have made the revision of the national standard for the function chart DIN 40 719 part 6 indispensable. The new standard is the European DIN EN 60848, GRAFCET (GRAphe Fonctionnel de Commande Etapes/Transitions). The transitional period ended on 31.05.2005.
